Camp Director Role Description

What are we looking for in a camp director?
Please consider the following passage as you are thinking about becoming a Camp Director on a CYC Camp.

Qualifications for Elders
5 This is why I left you in Crete, so that you might put what remained into order, and appoint elders in every town as I directed you— 6 if anyone is above reproach, the husband of one wife, and his children are believers and not open to the charge of debauchery or insubordination. 7 For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. 9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

Titus 1:5-9 ESV

As a Camp Director, CYC is asking you to lead one of our camps and help enforce our policies and procedures. In the above passage, verses seven and eight are good outlines of what we are asking of you.

Responsibilities
These are the responsibilities a Camp Director has before, during, and after a camp.

Before Camp

During Camp

After Camp

Things To Do

  1. Approximately 10 weeks before the camp, start asking anyone you know who you think would be a good Cabin Leader, to pray about and consider leading on camp.
  2. Approximately 10 weeks before the camp read over the information about your role so that you know what we require from you before, during, and after camp.
  3. Approximately 8 weeks before the camp organise to meet with your fellow Key Leaders to talk over all the ideas and plans for the camp.

Make sure that you keep working on these tasks until everything is organised. You may need to keep asking people to lead right up to the start of camp and you may need to meet with the other Key Leaders more than once.

The CYC Camps Coordinator will be available to answer questions and assist you however needed.
