Song and Praises

At most camps we have a time to sing songs before the study sessions so please be involved with these. If you are uninterested or acting like a stunned mullet why would the campers want to get involved? With that said be true to your faith and relationship with God. Don’t put on an act or show, just be present and involved!!

The Bible mentions many passages about singing songs, praises, hymns, and worship. Consider these two:

4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
Psalm 98:4 ESV

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2 ESV

Living our lives the way God intended us to is an act of worship, and when we sing songs we are worshipping together as believers.

The words we sing will quite often make sense to us and are sweet sounding, however to those who do not have a relationship with God they can be confusing or odd. When we sing songs in the presence of unbelievers, we can explain why we are doing it and what the lyrics mean so there isn’t any confusion.
