Ladies Craft Camp Camper Welcome

When campers arrive, tell them the following points:

Introduce yourself and welcome campers. If anyone is here for the first time, we truly hope you enjoy yourself, make new friends and come again.

1. MENTION EMERGENCY EVACUATION – In the event of an emergency a warning alarm will sound and you are required to immediately assemble just outside of the tennis courts. Don’t go to dorms and grab things.
   
2. Inside taps are drinking water (filtered rainwater) all other taps are unfiltered Murray River water
   
3. No hot drinks or soft drinks allowed in the craft/meeting room area, only bottled water.
   
4. Meals are eaten in the dining room only.
   
5. Reverse cycle air conditioners in dorms with remotes.  Please turn them off during the day.
   
6. Aerosols in dorms may set off smoke alarms. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. There is a large call-out fee if they go off, even for false alarms.
   
7. Please keep exterior-facing doors closed as we do not want any animals inside or dust that can also set the alarms off.
   
8. Bedroom setup done early so “sleepers” aren’t disturbed by those who stay up late crafting. Last one to bed – make sure all lights and irons/appliances are turned off.
   
9. Fundraising Table – Every camp we have this to raise money for items needed for the camps.  Give your unwanted items and any treasures you take, and we ask for a donation into the white tub. Items not taken will be donated to the op shops.
   
10. SUNDAY CHURCH: We would love for you to attend our service from 9.30am – 10.30am. If you choose not to, we ask that NO CRAFT happens during this time. You may choose to go for a walk or have a shower.
    
11. CAMP COOKBOOK – A great cookbook with recipes used on camps are available for a donation.
    
12. PROBLEMS/DAMAGE/MAINTENANCE Please let me know if anything is not working properly in the dorms or toilets. e.g. damage, leaking taps, toilet issues etc. (the camp staff don’t sleep in the dorms, so they rely on information ASAP so they can fix things straight away.)
    
13. LAST THING – Sleeping arrangements whilst on camp. PLEASE DON’T get upset/grumpy if you are not with all your friend/s in the same dorm. Whilst every effort is made to have you with your chosen friends on this camp, this is not always possible. Most campers require bottom bunks, and many need power points by the bed, which not all dorms have this option. The coordinator has to juggle so many options and doesn’t always get it 100% right. Your time is spent with friends around the craft tables and mealtimes. Dorms are for sleeping.

MEAL TIMES

Please ensure meals run on time, in consideration of our kitchen staff.

Check out your camp program for the times of each meal.

Please encourage campers to help set up tables 15 minutes before meal times and to clear tables/wipe down at the end of every meal, just check with the kitchen staff what is needed.

If you’re not a morning person, get someone to hop on the microphone before breakfast.

SPRING CAMP ONLY

We have a trading table in room 9 only for this camp. Crafters can bring along items to sell, and 10% commission goes to the CYC.

WINTER CAMPS ONLY

Please remember to keep the fires going by adding wood during the day and if last to bed to stock it up so it is still going in the morning.

In the event of an emergency,

Push the evacuation button on the PA system.

Make sure all speakers are switched on and ask all campers
to go to the emergency assembly area

Then check all campers are present

Please ensure the campers know the following points
(The director can mention the below points if needed)

Set up

1. Duty groups will be called 15 minutes before each meal and will ask the kitchen staff what needs to be set out on each table.

Start of Mealtime

• If you have a dietary requirement, please let the kitchen staff know as you come up to ensure you are served the correct food (these people will be served first).
• When you come up to the servery window, indicate what foods you would and would not like on your plate.
• You can get water from the taps or from the kitchenette. Make sure you
  fill-up the jugs before returning them to the fridge if you use them and at the end of each meal.
• All taps inside the dining room and your dorms are rainwater for drinking and outside taps are river water.

Clean up (Where to put rubbish, dirty plates and cutlery)

• Take up all plates, bowls, cups, food etc. to the dishwasher window after each course.
• Food scraps are to be scraped into the ‘scrap food’ bucket provided at the window (please don’t put food scraps in the dining room bin, as this can make a mess).
• Spray and wipe all tables after the meal, sweep as necessary and tuck in the chairs before leaving

Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolates, and Fruit Basket

• Coffee, tea and hot chocolates are available to use as you’d like them
• The coffee and tea area should be kept clean by wiping the bench when a mess is made and by taking any cups, mugs or other dishes to the dishwasher window.
• The fruit basket is available throughout camp, so help yourself

You can mention the below dot points if needed

1. The water in your dorms is rainwater so you can drink this, which means you don’t need to come into the dining room.
2. Please stay in your dorms until the music plays in the morning (unless in an emergency).
3. The music will play to wake you up and then you will have a short amount of time to get ready for the day before we call you in for breakfast.

End of camp clean up – camp finishes at 3:00 pm

For the Dining Room and Meeting Hall can everyone please pitch in and help each other.

Dorms

• Remove personal items from the dorm
• Sweep the floor
• Empty the bin
• Flush the toilet
• Please switch off the lights

Dining Room

• Clean chairs and tables
• Stack chairs
• Folding tables
• Sweep floor

Meeting Room

• Pack up
• Clean & stack chairs
• Leave the tables
• Pick up as much as possible off the floors, so that they are ready to be vacuumed.
