Volunteer Expectations

Expectations of CYC Volunteers
We expect you to have:
- A good Christian character and standing.
- The attitude of a servant – Think of the needs of others (Colossians 3:23, Mark 10:45).
- A desire to learn and grow (Ephesians 4:15)
- Respect for those in leadership above you (Romans 13:1).
- Respect for the other members of the camp (campers, volunteers, and staff).
We expect you to:
- Be a Christian – You cannot lead others where haven’t been yourself! (John 17:3)
- Attend all camp meetings.
- Be loving and patient towards others. (Galatians 5:22; 1 Thessalonians 5:14).
- Be discerning in your conduct towards campers, and other volunteers, avoiding conflict (1 Thessalonians 5:22).
- Be trustworthy (Titus 2:7).
- A good influence on youth and vulnerable persons.
- Uphold the policies of the camp – Whether set by the campsite, organising body or by the Camp Director.
- Follow through on what you’ve said you’ll do (Matthew 5:37). While you are volunteering have fun! We live in a wonderful creation, and you get to experience some of these things while you are serving with CYC. People are the very best part of creation, and we are here to share Christ with others.
